Twelve Instagram Accounts to Follow

Whew, what a busy couple of weeks it’s been! I’ve been dreaming of spending more time here, working on all things tracing paper, but life has simply taken over lately.

After such long and busy days, I enjoy kicking back on the couch, lounging and relaxing with a beer or glass of wine. This time of relaxation often includes swiping through some of my favorite social media apps, starting with Instagram.

Hands down, I spend more time on Instagram than any other social media site or app. I prefer to look at pretty pictures over reading people’s whiny status rants. When my alarm goes off in the mornings, I open Instagram and scroll through my feed to wake myself up and squeeze in a little inspiration for the day.

Here are a dozen of my favorite Instagram accounts right now, in no particular order.

Just breathtakingly gorgeous. Her photos, especially the ones that capture quiet details,
remind me what I love and miss about using my camera.

Still a newbie homeowner, I spend a lot of time trying to make our house more our own. I follow lots of home design accounts for inspiration, but this is one of my favorites for two reasons. First, all photos are their own designers’ work; it’s not a reposted collection. Second, I get real ideas. Several of the home design accounts I follow (like @myhouseidea) post gorgeous dream homes, but none that are real life—or at least not for me.

Analog photos taken by the six-year-old son of a National Geographic photographer.
Adorable, yes, but also a captivating perspective.

I love following along with this motley crew.

Inspirational, witty, intelligent, sincere, and full of adventure. I love the way he sees the world.
My favorite part is reading the captions.

How could God be hidden? Or said differently: how could what is real be hidden? How could we think that study and teaching and special teachers and scientists and prophets had to save us? What then of the lost boy on an island with no access? What then of the broken wounded boy in the city who was tortured by the teacher? . Whatever is truest, most useful, most demanded by God… it must be the most free, the most common. The full truth of the universe must be on the back of a stupid bug on the sidewalk, or not exist at all. . I've spent so many years feverishly buying books looking for the right teaching, the truest revelation. Maybe C.S. Lewis knows? Maybe Alan Watts? Maybe Carl Sagan? Thinking that if I didn't study hard enough, look hard enough, the truth would turn away from me. . Ha. There is just as much truth in the dead ink on the dead tree bark paper as there is in the words. . Words help but they aren't the answer. "They are a finger pointing at the moon. They aren't the moon." . Put down the book for a minute and behold the ant tickling your leg. It is enough. You belong. Relax. #widen2016

Sarah and I lived on the same floor during our freshman year of college. Her hometown was halfway to mine, so I dropped her off on my way back to Ohio a couple times. Outside of that, we didn’t know each other well, but I have always admired her photography. Her gorgeous Instagram account documents her beautiful, rustic lifestyle.

Are these photos even real life?
They make me want to run out and buy plane tickets right this second. Byeeee.

You might’ve read about the floral arrangement class I took a couple months ago. These guys were the instructors for that class, and their Instagram is to die for. I follow lots of floral accounts, but this one in particular makes me swoon. Everything they do looks like it’s right out of a painting.

I could watch this hand-lettering genius all day.

and @infatuation

Ok, this is a 2-for-1 because they are run by the same people. BUT! Arguably the most beautiful
images of all. Be still, my heart.

I feel like this bottles up everything I feel about Buffalo. I love the way he captures our city.

A beautiful photo tour of Buffalo, both big and small. Whether you’ve lived here for years
or never been here in your life, you’ll like this account if you like good photography.
